Information on 2009 session now available
Parlette encourages citizens to visit Web site, contact district office for session summaries

OLYMPIA…State Sen. Linda Evans Parlette is encouraging 12th District citizens interested in what happened during the 2009 legislative session to visit her Web site or contact her district office for detailed summaries of the session’s major issues and events. Rather than mass-mailing citizens a post-session newsletter, as she’s done in the past, Parlette is making the information available via e-mail, on her Web site and, for citizens who don’t have access to the Internet, in printed form by contacting her district office.

“Like other state agencies, the Senate is looking for ways to cut costs and trim our budget,” Parlette said. “To save money I am forgoing a post-session newsletter mailing and have instead made the same information available electronically or in print by contacting my district office. I encourage everyone to access this information and find out what the Legislature did this year that will have a very direct impact on all of us.”

Parlette has made the summaries available in three parts:

• Part I – An overview of the operating, transportation and capital budgets;

• Part II – An overview of legislation and issues that particularly affect the 12th District; and

• Part III – A summary of the session’s key bills.

Citizens wishing to access the information may:

• Visit Parlette’s legislative Web site at:  www.senaterepublicans.wa.gov/Parlette;

• Call or drop by her district office at:  625 Okanogan Avenue, Suite 301, Wenatchee, (509) 663-9702 (office open Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Fridays by appointment); or

• Send her an e-mail at:  Parlette.Linda@leg.wa.gov.

“I also invite anyone who’s interested to contact me and sign up for my e-newsletter that I send out weekly during the legislative session and periodically during the interim,” Parlette said. “It’s a great way to stay updated on what’s happening in Olympia.”
