Morton pleased more federal funding coming for Okanogan and Pend Oreille county transportation projects

April 10, 2009

Olympia…Sen. Bob Morton, R-Kettle Falls, said today he was pleased to learn that additional road projects in the 7th District will receive federal stimulus funding.

The new approved projects are:

Okanogan County

  • Okoma Drive/S.R. 215 sidewalk project from 4th Ave. to Jasmine St. - $177,000

  • 5th Ave./S.R. 97 to 23rd Ave. pedestrian improvements MP 331.22 to 332.70 - $1.05 million

Pend Oreille County

  • Deer Valley Road preservation work from MP 7.84 to 9.55 - $471,000

The previously approved projects are:

  • U.S. 2/Jct S.R. 211 to Newport (paving) - $7.83 million

  • S.R. 20 Sherman Pass Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) site upgrade and new HAR at U.S. 395/S.R. 26 - $240,000

  • U.S. 395/Spokane County line to Loon Lake (paving) - $2.38 million

  • U.S. 395/Loon Lake to Immel Road (paving) - $9.03 million

  • S.R. 155/Omak eastward (chip seal) - $1.06 million

“A total of $22 million in federal stimulus money has been approved for transportation projects in eastern Washington,” Morton said. “All the projects had to be ready to go to qualify, which illustrates the size of the backlog of projects waiting for funding.”
