Benton to continue his leadership role on
the Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee December 21, 2006 OLYMPIA…State Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, was chosen by his Senate Republican colleagues today to continue his leadership role as ranking Republican member on the Senate Financial Institutions and Insurance Committee. He will also serve as a member of the Senate Transportation Committee and the Senate Government Operations and Elections Committee. “These committees deal with issues important to people in the 17th District and match my priorities as their senator,” Benton said. “I will continue to push for protections against financial fraud and identity theft; improvements in how our counties and the state run and monitor elections; and to get funding from existing gas tax dollars for transportation projects that serve Clark County and Southwest Washington.” Benton is serving his third term in the Senate. He served one term in the House of Representatives before being elected to the Senate. -30-
