OLYMPIA…Sen. Bob Morton, R-Orient, says state aviation funding for the airport in Tonasket will help spur the local economy.

It was announced earlier this week that the state Department of Transportation Aviation Division will fund $250,000 for taxiway reconstruction at the Tonasket Municipal Airport.

“This funding is vital for the overall economic well-being of our area,” Morton said. “Reconstructing the taxiway at the airport brings this local economy into the competitive 21st Century.”

The Tonasket Municipal Airport has one runway that is 3,000 feet long and 50 feet wide. The airport’s annual economic impact to the local economy is $134,111.
