OLYMPIA…The Washington Retail
Association (WRA) has recognized Sen. Bob Morton, R-Orient, for his
unwavering support of retailers across the state.
The recognition is based on his 100 percent voting record
for issues important to retailers throughout the 2005 legislative session.
“I am honored by the retailers’ recognition and am proud
to stand for issues that help to fuel our economy and protect and create
jobs, especially in rural Washington,” Morton said.
Morton, who represents the largely rural 7th Legislative
District, was also recognized by the Retail Association for his support on
legislation to improve the state’s workers’ compensation system and his
stand against costly mandates for retailers and other businesses.
The retail industry is the second-largest industry in
Washington state. Retailers employ an estimated 700,000 people statewide.
