Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Thank you for visiting my website. As your 14th District State Senator, I want to encourage you to browse these pages and learn more about what I stand for as your voice in the Washington State Legislature.
As you know, the 14th District comprises the north-western third of Yakima County and includes the cities and towns of Yakima, Union Gap, Selah, Tieton, Naches, Cowiche, and others. You can see a map of the entire district here.
I serve as the Ranking Republican on the Senate Early Learning and K-12 Education committee, and I consider the education of our state’s children to be one of the top priorities of state government. I also serve on the Quality Education Council, whose purpose is to develop strategic recommendations for implementation of a new definition of Basic Education and the financing necessary to support it.
In addition to education, another of my priorities is improving Washington’s business climate to encourage new businesses to develop and existing businesses to flourish. More successful businesses in our state means more jobs for our citizens, something that will help drive our economy and improve our overall quality of life.
I also serve on the Senate Transportation committee. It’s important to me that residents of the 14th District get their fair share of state transportation funds and that our traffic safety and congestion issues are addressed. Transportation is vital to the industries and businesses of our valley, and we must ensure our growers have open and efficient access to markets on the west side of the state.
Please feel free to contact me directly with any comments, questions or concerns you may have about state government. It’s important to pay attention to what’s going on in Olympia because the decisions we make often affect you directly.
I encourage you to write me a letter or an e-mail, visit our website often or follow us on Twitter, subscribe to our news updates, or just pick up the phone and call my Olympia office at (360) 786-7626 or the toll-free legislative hotline at 1-800-562-6000. I hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
|
