As a Richland native and a police officer for
27 years, Sen. Delvin has watched the Tri-Cities bloom like a
rose in the desert.
The once modest community is now one of the fastest-growing in
the state. It is home to the Hanford Nuclear Site, the Pacific
Northwest National Laboratory and WSU Tri-Cities, which Sen.
Delvin helped establish as a four-year college in 2006.
Growing up in Richland and enjoying the
benefits of clean, affordable nuclear energy, Sen. Delvin is
Washington’s most vocal advocate for adding more nuclear power
to our already clean hydropower arsenal.
As a member of the Governor’s Climate Advisory
Team, Sen. Delvin has been the lone voice of reason, urging the
team to carefully consider the economy-killing cost of slamming
Washington businesses and citizens with high carbon taxes and
cap-and-trade schemes that everyone admits will send jobs
fleeing out of the state.
Instead, the senator advocates reducing
greenhouse gases by offering tax and other free-market
incentives to encourage businesses and individuals to adopt
cleaner technologies to solve the problem.
“This would allow us to keep Washington jobs
in Washington,” Delvin said, “And keep our economy vibrant and
growing in the process.”
