Senator Jerome Delvin
8th District, Richland
In this year’s Legislative session, we placed one-percent
of Washington state revenues ($446 million) into our new,
protected emergency fund. We also created a new, searchable
state budget database that shows exactly how the state spends
your tax money.
On
the downside, I fear you’ll see taxes skyrocket. Look for a
payroll tax to fund Paid Family Leave. Climate change
legislation alone could soak citizens for millions. And
government-run, universal health care could cost $145 billion
dollars in new taxes over 10 years. By 2017, the $20 billion
annual cost of this bill would nearly double our current
state budget.
Only you can decide how big state government should grow,
what it should offer and who will pay for it. If you have
thoughts and ideas, I’d like to hear from you.
Sincerely,
Jerome
