   Thank you for visiting my Web site.

  Here, you will find my newsletters and press releases, as well as the most current version of my 4th Legislative District Government Guide, which provides information on how to contact federal, state and local government offices and services.

    As we enter the 2010 Session, we once again find that Olympia’s fiscal house is not in order. There are some in Olympia who want to raise your taxes to solve the state’s budget deficit. I disagree. I know that many of you are struggling, and you want to know why government can’t live within its means like your family has to do.

    The answer is it can… if we choose to do so. New and higher taxes are not the answer. Prioritizing and controlling Olympia’s runaway spending is. We have a spending problem, not a revenue problem.  There are things the Legislature can do this session to encourage job growth. And it should, because jobs are the best remedy for our state’s budget trouble. People who have steady jobs are more likely to buy, generating tax revenue for state and local governments. They also are less likely to need state services, which reduces expensive caseloads.

    I will work with members in both parties to make sure we look at real solutions for the real problems we now face.
